To celebrate the 40 anniversary of the Dow site in Tarragona an exhibition was organized "Dow x Everyone. " Through various stands there was a tour which explained:

• the activity of the enterprise,
• The utility of the different products
• production processes,
• History

Throughout the three days that lasted the exhibition came more than six thousand people.

The Community Advisor Panel for Dow in Tarragona, shares experiences in Portugal

Representatives of Dow Community Advisor Panel, attended a meeting in Portugal to share experiences with colleagues in the neighboring country. The Public Panel Estarreja, last year received a European award in recognition of his activity and for this reason, members of the Advisory Panel in Tarragona Dow visited the area to learn other strategies to improve communication between companies and community.

To the north of Portugal near the town of Porto Estarreja lives just two kilometers to a major chemical industrial zone. Although the number of firms is lower than that of Tarragona, the characteristics of their products, some of them toxic, are implying that the community especially in the management of this risk.

It was particularly interesting to see how in both cases, there is a common concern, companies need to find the best method to explain and communities want a procedure to know the companies with whom they share territory. Establish a two-way dialogue track would then be the rationale in both cases.

Tarragona Panel, which acts as a small social laboratory, shared his experiences as an advisory body, discussing some cases in which the company has introduced new industrial processes for which he sought the opinion of the Panel, which has made its approach as an important to consider.

There is also some difference between the two in the Portuguese case, Estarreja Panel is responsible for coordinating all agencies involved in emergency planning in the area, since its members belong to these organizations. But here the task is the sole responsibility of the Generalitat of Catalonia through the Emergency Department.

This forum for consultation and communication between the company and the community has recently initiated a new phase with more additions that will further enriching this consultative body. Seventeen people from different sectors of society have begun then, this time with a visit to the new facilities of the Emergency Center of the Generalitat of Catalonia where they could learn about which coordinates all actions and measures that are envisaged in case of emergency.

How to activate the PLASEQTA, when and why, with a detailed explanation of the steps and processes put in place in case of incidents. The components of the Panel, following me throughout the visit and heard the explanations of those responsible for the center, showing a special interest in the mechanisms of information to the public.

Also positively surprised with the technological equipment available, surveillance cameras, computers, call centers, active displays and in connection with the whole more.
